How do I write a strong, concise cover letter?

Keep it to three short paragraphs, tailored to each job (do not send one version to everyone). In the opening, mention the role and why you are excited about it; in the middle, connect two or three points from your resume to the job needs with numbers and results where possible; end with a clear call to connect. Avoid repeating your resume word for word; the letter complements it.
