SQL Database Administrator

The role will be responsible for managing, monitoring, securing, and improving SQL Server platforms with a strong focus on high availability, disaster recovery, performance tuning and operational stability. Candidate will have hands-on experience with SQL Server Always on Availability Groups, Log Shipping, Windows Failover Clustering, backup and recovery, database security and production support.

You will:

Manage and support Microsoft SQL Server production and non-production environments.

Administer and monitor Always on Availability Groups, including replication health, failover readiness, listener configuration, and synchronization status.

Support SQL Server Failover Clustering and coordinate with infrastructure teams for cluster health, failover testing, and patching activities.

Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot Log Shipping for disaster recovery and reporting environments.

Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and tune SQL queries, indexes, statistics, execution plans, and wait events.

Perform daily health checks including database availability, job status, disk space, backup status, error logs, blocking, deadlocks, and replication/AG status.

Manage SQL Server security including logins, users, roles, permissions, service accounts, and least privilege access control.

Ideal Candidate should have:

Experience with PowerShell or T-SQL automation.

Experience with SQL Server monitoring tools such as SCOM, SolarWinds, SQL Monitor, SQL Diagnostic Manager or DataDog.

Experience with cloud database platforms such as Azure SQL Managed Instance, Azure SQL Database, or AWS RDS SQL Server.

Knowledge of SSIS, SSRS, or data migration activities will be advantageous.

Ability to analyse SQL Server error logs, Windows event logs, AG dashboards and cluster events.

Experience working in ITIL-based environments including incident, problem, change, and release management.
